How to Make a Song with Suno
Creating music with Suno is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, making the process accessible to anyone, regardless of their musical background. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making your own song with Suno:
Step 1: Describe Your Music
Start by outlining the style of music you’re interested in and the topic you want the song to cover. You can specify genres and vibes but avoid using specific artists and songs as references. This helps Suno understand the direction for your creation.
Step 2: Title and Lyrics
Decide whether you want to give your song a specific title and write your own lyrics or let Suno generate them for you. This flexibility allows for both personal creativity and the convenience of AI assistance.
Step 3: Generation and Remixing:
Once you’ve submitted your preferences, Suno generates two versions of your song, complete with AI-generated cover images. If the initial result isn’t quite what you were looking for, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can choose to remix the song.
Step 4 (optional): Extending Your Song
If you want your song to be longer than the standard 1 minute 20 seconds, you can use the continuation feature to add more segments, each extending the song by an additional 60 seconds. Here’s how:
- Click the three dots/ellipses next to the clip you wish to extend.
- Select Continue From This Clip.
- If you’re continuing a song, the selected clip will appear on the left-hand side of your screen. Here, you can add more lyrics and specify if you want to maintain the same style or try something new. If you leave the style section blank, Suno will attempt to match the style of the continuing clip.
- Hit Generate to create the next segment.
- To compile the full song, click the ellipses again and select Get Whole Song. Suno will stitch all the clips in that chain into a single track. Note that while the Get Whole Song feature does not use any credits, each continuation segment costs 10 credits, similar to generating the first song in the chain.
Step 5 Attribution and Monetization
Remember, if you’re using the free version of Suno, you are required to attribute any songs or artwork posted to social media with “Made With Suno”. Paying subscribers are appreciated but not required to attribute, and they have the added benefit of being able to monetize their songs on platforms like YouTube, provided they adhere to Suno’s Terms of Service.
